Athens - A strong earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck southern Greece Wednesday evening, Greek radio reported. There were no initial reports of damage or casualties in the quake which struck below the seabed near the island of Methani south of the Peloponnese island. The quake struck at 8.30 pm (1830 GMT), with the shock felt as far north as Athens. It was the second quake of the day to strike the Peloponnese region, when an undersea quake measuring 5.4 struck southern Greece. On February 14, the same area was struck by a quake measuring 6.5 and lasting some 15 seconds but causing no casualties.
