Berlin - Two Vietnamese women and a Lebanese taxi driver were injured in racially motivated attacks in Berlin over the weekend, police said Sunday. In one incident, unknown assailants hurled racial abuse at a 36-year-old woman and punched her in the face. They also threw stones at her 2-year-old daughter when she tried to run away from the attackers, police said.

Police suspect the attackers had earlier robbed a flower shop and injured its Vietnamese owner, aged 50.

In a separate incident, a 28-year-old taxi driver was attacked and slightly injured by a drunken couple who uttered racist remarks and taunted him over his poor knowledge of German, police said.

Police were called to the scene, but let the couple go after after breathalysing them and taking down their personal details.
