BERLIN, Jan. 8 Critics throughout Germany have begun offering negative reviews of a new parody film focused on former Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

Germany's Der Spiegel magazine reports while many German citizens appear ready for a comedy based on the nefarious leader, area critics have panned early screenings of Dani Levy's Mein Fuhrer: The Truly Truest Truth About Adolf Hitler.Set in 1944, Truest Truth features Hitler as a bed-wetting drug addict who attempts to conquer the world as a way to make up for the abusive relationship he had with his father. With an unfortunate mixture of naivety and dramaturgic inability and with totally inappropriate empathy, Levy has now managed to make these revealingly grotesque traits of Hitler human and understandable, so that one is left thinking: Oh well, things weren't always easy for Adolf Hitler either, a review from Germany ' s World on Sunday said of the film. Der Spiegel said that the film focuses on mocking the former Nazi leader through a series of visual gags, jokes that most critics labeled unfunny and excuses for Hitler's homicidal behavior.
