Singapore - A retailer has pulled a range of cosmetics and bags with slogans including "Looking Good for Jesus" off the shelves following complaints from Christians, a news report said Tuesday. Fashion retailer Topshop, which has eight stores in Singapore, and Wing Tai Retail, which manages Topshops, apologized.

"We don't want to offend our customers," The Straits Times quoted a spokesman as saying.

The controversy centred on body creams, lip balms, bags and other items marketed under the "Looking Good for Jesus" line.

The lip balms had the message "virtuous vanilla" on the packaging, the report said. "Get His Attention" and "Redeem your reputation and More" were used to promote the hand and body creams.

Wong Tai told the newspaper that the products were from Blue Q, an American brand that has released other items poking fun at homosexuals and politicians.

"Blue Q's products are very interesting," the spokesman said. "The items poke fun at everybody."

The phrases rankled Christians.

"Why would anyone use religious figure to promote vanity products?" asked Grace Ong, a 24-year-old accountant. "It's very disrespectful and distasteful."
