Alabama voters favor Obama, Huckabee

MONTGOMERY, Ala., Feb. 5 Barack Obama picked up the win in the Alabama Democratic primary, outpacing rival Hillary Clinton 56 percent to 41 percent.

In the Republican presidential nomination race, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee was declared the winner in the three-person race against Sen. John McCain of Arizona and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

CBS declared Obama and Huckabee their parties' winners with roughly 2,000 of the state's 2,827 precincts reporting.

Obama captured 57 percent of the vote to Clinton's 41 percent in the race for the state's 60 delegates.

In the GOP primary, Huckabee won 41 percent to McCain's 38 percent and Romney's 17 percent. At stake are 48 delegates.
