BOULDER, Colo., Jan. 21 A Colorado woman has admitted dropping her 8-year-old daughter off every Saturday for a year to spend the night with a 47-year-old man.

The mother also said authorities are "good-hearted, but misguided" in charging her with child abuse.

The Boulder woman is charged with two misdemeanor counts of child abuse for placing the girl in a life- or health-threatening situation and could face up to two years in jail. She is expected in court Feb. 19 for a pre-trial conference.

The man, Joseph Cardillo, pleaded not guilty Friday to sex assault charges. He is accused of drinking the girl's urine and using a sex toy on her.

Cardillo, who is to go to trial June 2, faces a possible life sentence if convicted on charges of sex assault on a child by a person in position of trust and assaulting the girl.
