New YOrk - Siemens corporation has overtaken Daimler as the largest German company in terms of revenues in the United States after the automaker spun off the US automaker Chrysler last year. Second place was claimed by Volkswagen including Audi, and third place by the cell phone operator T-Mobile, according to the most recent rankings by the German-American Chamber of Commerce posted Thursday on its website.
Others in the top ten included Allianz, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, BASF, Bayer, ThyssenKrupp and the Hochtief subsidiary Turner.
The estimated 3,000 German companies in the US employ 700,000 people, according to the most recent rankings of the German-American Chamber of Commerce.
The 50 largest German companies in the US produced revenues of 240 billion dollars in 2006, the latest year for which tallies were available.
