IRVINGTON, N.J., Jan. 3 A New Jersey storage company announced it will auction off hundreds of items previously owned by pop star Whitney Houston.

The items, including costumes, sound equipment, musical instruments, furniture and tools, will be sold Tuesday by A.J. Willner Auctions in Irvington, N.J.

The auction is open to the public, but only for qualified buyers, said Steve Newmark, co-owner of the auction house. We are probably going to combine a lot of the individual items, like the costumes. It's not for a teenage fan hoping to buy one of (Houston's) trinkets. The company selling the items, Speed of Sound, said Houston owes an estimated $200,000 in storage fees for the collection, which includes a transparent piano estimated to be worth $300,000 to $400,000 when new.

Jeffrey Campisi, an attorney for Speed of Sound, said New Jersey law requires any proceeds exceeding the $200,000 storage debt to be passed on to Houston's company.
