HOUSTON, Jan. 17 USA Superior Energy Holdings Inc. announced a 200 percent increase in oil production.
During a recent testing of nitrogen-based enhanced oil recovery at an existing oil well the company said 100 percent oil was pumped up.
Before testing the well with nitrogen injection, the well was producing only a small amount of fluid made up of 5 percent oil and 95 percent water.
The tests were conducted to measure and verify potential results USA Superior's research had shown could be expected when using the company's cyclical nitrogen injection EOR program.
"We feel these results show the potential that a cyclic nitrogen injection program implemented across a field can produce," said Randy Holifield, field supervisor of USA Superior Energy Holdings Inc.
Engineering reports estimate that the wells have only produced between 5 percent and 10 percent of the oil in the ground and there is between 90 percent and 95 percent remaining to be produced through secondary and tertiary methods. USA Superior expects a cyclic nitrogen injection program, in addition to horizontal enhancements, to be able to produce an additional 15 percent to 30 percent of the oil still left.
