Berlin - Two men were in detention Thursday for attacking and hurling abuse at five students from a Jewish high school in Berlin, police said. They were among a group of four who attacked the students aged between 15 and 17 on Wednesday and also set a dog on them. None of the students was injured.
Alerted by witnesses, police took the alleged attackers into custody, releasing two of them after questioning.
The two alleged leaders of the attack, aged 27 and 31, were in detention after a magistrate issued arrest warrants for them.
Berlin's governing mayor, Klaus Wowereit, called the attack racially motivated and said it was "intolerable."
