A pair of long legs is considered to be a pre-requisite asset in any model; male or female. Polish researchers have now found that people are generally attracted by longer legs regardless of the sex of the person possessing them!
Researchers at the University of Wroclaw asked 218 male and female volunteers to examine seven pictures of males and females. These pictures had added leg length to the original length of the people.
The volunteers seemed to prefer people having 5 percent extra leg length. However if the length was stretched to 10 percent or more, it apparently turned people off.
Lead researcher Boguslaw Pawlowski said that longer legs are generally perceived as healthy. He also added that he was sure this attraction for long legs was not limited to Polish people alone.
Shorter legs have been linked to liver disease, cardiovascular disease and diabetes in earlier studies. Therefore long legs may be viewed as a healthy sign and not just among models. The details of the current study appear in New Scientist.
