Cage's stalker to undergo rehabilitation
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Jan. 12 A man who admitted stalking film star Nicolas Cage and stealing one his leather jackets from his California home has been ordered to undergo rehabilitation.

News sources said that after being caught by police walking around Cage's home naked except for the actor's leather jacket last October, Robert Furo Jr. admitted to stalking the "National Treasure" star, Zap2it.com reported Friday.

For entering Cage's home in Newport Beach, Calif., and stealing the jacket, Furo was sentenced Thursday to a one-month lockdown and five months at a residential home.

Furo also was ordered to remain 100 yards away from Cage and his family and is not allowed to have any contact with the "Ghost Rider" star.

The Web site said the "Leaving Las Vegas" actor managed to escort Furo out of his home and into his backyard, where police arrested him without any problems.

Mario Van Peebles to return to TV soaps
NEW YORK, Jan. 12 Film actor Mario Van Peebles, who once appeared on the U.S. TV soap opera "One Life to Live," has joined the cast of ABC's "All My Children."

The film actor and director, whose works include "New Jack City" and "Posse," has agreed to join the successful daytime soap opera this month, Zap2it.com reported Friday.

When Peebles first appears on the ABC hit series Jan. 29, he will be portraying prosecutor Samuel Woods, who encounters actress Susan Lucci's character on her talk show.

A recent ABC news release said the interaction of Woods and Erica Kane results in "a lot more than a spike in ratings: Samuel will soon become a nightmare, though one that could turn into a romance!"

The Web site said that in addition to appearing on "One Life" during the 1980s, Peebles has appeared on the small screen in series such as "Law & Order" and the FX drama "Damages."

Probation ordered in Cruise extortion case
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 12 Marc Lewis Gittleman has been sentenced to two years of probation for attempting to extort money from U.S. actor Tom Cruise.

With the presiding judge in Gittleman's case agreeing with lead attorneys that the 34-year-old West Hollywood, Calif., man should not face prison time, a fine of $3,000 was handed down in addition to probation following his plea agreement in the Hollywood extortion case, Zap2it.com said Friday.

Gittleman had attempted to force the "Mission Impossible 3" star to pay him $1.3 million to keep a set of stolen photographs of Cruise's wedding to actress Katie Holmes a secret.

Gittleman and his alleged partner, 47-year-old David Hans Schmidt, were later arrested following a police sting operation.

The Web site said that while Gittleman pleaded guilty to interstate transportation of stolen property, Schmidt committed suicide after being apprehended by authorities.

Paramount changes executive line-up
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 12 Paramount Pictures Chairman Brad Grey has reshuffled the U.S. studio's executive hierarchy following nearly a month of preparations.

After several weeks of preparations by the Paramount chief executive officer, the studio has promoted Paramount Vintage standout John Lesher to head up all of the group's film efforts, The Hollywood Reporter said Saturday.

Rob Moore, who helped rebuild Paramount Home Entertainment in 2007, also consolidated his standing with the successful entertainment group through the executive reshuffling.

Meanwhile, the studio's president of production, Brad Weston, will now report directly to Lesher rather than Grey, but will begin work with MTV Films and Nick Movies.

Grey said Friday his decision to reshuffle the studio's executives was based on a desire to solidify the entertainment group for this year.

"Just in terms of constancy, in terms of running the studio, this is solidifying what has become a strong, senior executive team. The promotions and responsibilities have been well-earned," Grey said. "I see it as a team that will build on the foundation we have with a strong year last year and a strong slate for the coming year."
