Los Angeles - Inmates at San Francisco's Folsom prison were singing the blues after bosses cancelled a concert to mark the 40th anniversary of country legend Johnny Cash's famous performance there, Splash news reported Thursday. The gig was cancelled over security concerns and claims by officials that organizers kept changing their demands, according to the reports.
It was set to be staged in the same cafeteria at the jail where the late Cash thrilled a raucous crowd on January 13, 1968.
The show on Sunday was to be streamed worldwide over the internet, with a line up including Cash's original drummer WS "Fluke" Holland.
The Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison live album recorded at the original concert was heralded as the major breakthrough in Cash's career.
It topped the charts for two years and sold more than two million copies.
