WASHINGTON, Jan. 9 U.S. President George W. Bush, upset by a reported incident involving Iranian speedboats approaching three U.S. warships, called Iran "a threat to world peace."
In Jerusalem on the first day of his Mideast trip, Bush warned Tehran against any repeat of the action, calling it "a very dangerous gesture," CNN reported Wednesday.
"We have made it clear, and they know our position, and that is: There will be serious consequences if they attack our ships, pure and simple," Bush said at a joint news conference with Israeli Prime Minster Ehud Olmert.
Sunday's confrontation in the Strait of Hormuz led to an exchange of accusations between the countries and Iran has denounced a four-minute, 20 second U.S. Navy video of five blue speedboats harassing a U.S. naval convoy in the narrow Persian Gulf channel as fake.
Soon after the video's release, a member of the Navy Forces of the Revolution Guards Corps told Iran's state-run Press TV the video footage had been compiled using archival pictures and the audio had been fabricated.
