PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia, Jan. 2 Malaysian leaders accepted the resignation of Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek following his appearance in an adulterous sex video.

The Malaysian Chinese Association's presidential council said it "regrets and respects" Chua's resignation and "urged the police to take firm action" against those who distributed the DVD, the Malaysian Star said Wednesday.

Chua acknowledged he was the person shown in the tape, telling a news conference Tuesday that "my family, wife and children have personally accepted my apology."

Chua said about his political future that he would "leave it to party members, leaders and the Malaysian public to be the judge. It's not for me to speculate."
