Goa win team gold in national taekwondo championship

Kolkata, Dec 31 - Goa's men's team clinched the gold in the 22nd National Taekwondo Championship that concluded here Saturday night.

The Goa team - comprising Prithvi Tamang, Dipak Debnath, Khusi Ram Chaudhury, Shera Kotkany, Arjun Senapati and Sidba Sidak - won the men's team Tuls, while Karnataka (Sr.) and Delhi took the silver and bronze respectively.

Meanwhile, in the individual Tuls' individual category, the gold went to Siddharth of Karnataka in the men's division and Jyotsna Singh of Delhi in the women's section.

Siddharth also won gold in the second Dan and third Dan black-belt category, considered to be the highest category of the competition. The silver and bronze went to Yashvardhan and Ashis Kothari of West Bengal.

Jyotshna Singh and Neeral Pathak of Delhi won the gold and silver in the first Dan and second Dan Black Belt category, while B.K. Soundarya bagged the bronze.

In the girl's (below 13 years) green to black stripe category, Delhi's Vidushi Singh won the gold while Heetu Jain of Maharashtra bagged silver. Anoushka Gupta of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh's Srishty Goyal were the joint bronze medal winners.
