Luxor, Egypt - French President Nicolas Sarkozy arrived in the southern city of Luxor Tuesday in the company of French-Italian singer Carla Bruni, whom he's dating, to spend the Christmas and New Year holidays in Egypt. His trip was to include "an open discussion with Egyptian writers and intellectuals," according to local news reports citing the Egyptian ambassador in Paris, Nasser Kamel.

Sarkozy's itinerary also includes an official meeting with Egypt's President Hosny Mubarak on December 30.
