NEW YORK, Dec. 21 A Manhattan Supreme Court judge has decided not to allow hip-hop artist Remy Ma to tour Europe while she awaits trial for allegedly shooting a friend.
The financially strapped rapper was hoping to make some money with a five-city European tour, the New York Post reported Friday.
"Given the circumstances and the seriousness of the charges, and the fact that she has pending intimidation charges, I'm not prepared to let the defendant travel out of the country," said Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Rena Uviller.
Remy Ma, whose real name is Remy Smith, was hit with witness-tampering and gang-assault charges connected to her alleged participation in a recent shooting.
She was already facing up to 25 years in jail on charges she shot a female friend in the stomach during a dispute over some missing cash.
However, Manhattan prosecutors told a judge the rapper also tried to silence one of the case's key witnesses.
Prosecutors said that in addition to berating the witness' boyfriend, Smith sent her own boyfriend and his friends to intimidate him.
When the witness' boyfriend tried to seek help from security, he reportedly was jumped by the posse of Smith's boyfriend and left with a fractured face.
