BRECKENRIDGE, Colo., Dec. 19 Snowboarder Shaun White followed up a top-score run at a Colorado competition by meeting with police officers who accused him of setting off a fire alarm.
White, who took the top score in the qualifying round of the Chevrolet U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix at Breckenridge resort Friday, was confronted by police a few hours later and accused of pulling the pin out of a fire extinguisher at the Beaver Run Resort and Conference Center, setting off the fire alarm, the Rocky Mountain News reported Wednesday. The alarm brought firefighters to the center.
The 2006 Winter Olympics gold medalist was given a summons for criminal tampering. His court date has been scheduled for March 10.
Bruce Horii, director of sales and marketing for Beaver Run, said the building was not damaged during the incident.
"I don't think it's anything that hasn't been cleaned up already," Horii said. "It's one of those outbursts of energy. He must have had too much excitement going."
