Motorola Inc, the second largest mobile maker has unveiled nine new sleek phone models. The models were exhibited at the 3GSM World Conference, a wireless industry exposition in Cannes, France.

The most talked about new offerings from Motorola includes Slvr V8 (pronounced as “Silver”), a cell phone that looks like a new form of the hot-selling RAZR V3 that comes for $499. The Pebl V6 is another new addition by Motorola that has gripped public attention.

Both Slvr V8 and Pebl V6 are style statements in their own right. The Slvr is an ultra-thin "candy bar" style camera phone. Slvr is styled from moulded plastic.

The Pebl V6 on the other hand is almost like a jewelry that you can wear around your neck. Pebl V6 is rounded and smooth. Its gem-like finish made from a metal glittering like mercury gives it a mysteriously attractive look. "I love the notion that the first time people won't necessarily get what it is," says Paul Pierce, Motorola director of design.

Both models come in a charcoal-metallic color. They are also expected to be cheaper than the Razr V3.

"We want to drive high design into more of a high-volume, mass-market product," said Jim Caruso, director of operations for Motorola's cell phone design group. "It's more affordable high design.

“Three themes drive our design culture and language: simplicity, richness and surprise," said Caruso.

Ben Wood, principal analyst for mobile terminals with Gartner in London, said, "These new products will certainly help Motorola continue to get its brand in mobile phones back on its feet following on from the RAZR. There is no question that the cell-phone industry in mature markets like North America remains as much about fashion as technology."

Motorola is also launching E1120 phone with built-in camera of 3 megapixels for high detail pictures. The E1060 model will feature iTunes Music Player.

"We're committed to have iTunes as the default music client, but we'll also continue to support other music players such as RealPlayer said Amer Husaini, vice president for Motorola's mobile devices group. Users will be able to download 10 songs onto the phone within 60 seconds.
