Kiev dpa) - A Ukrainian man, who had been considered to be world's oldest person, has died aged 116, reports said Sunday. Ukrainian authorities confirmed the death of Griogri Nestor, who had been considered unofficially to be the world's oldest person at the time of his 116th birthday last March.

In March, the Ukrainian authorities officially recognized him as being the world's oldest person and attempts were being made to get him into the international record books.

Nestor reportedly put his long life down to the fact that he had never been married.
