LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11 A water main break in Los Angeles has left rocker Eddie Van Halen's yard a wet, muddy mess and filled his swimming pool with sludge.
The guitarist returned to his Studio City home from a gig in Canada to find dirt and debris had slid 300 feet down a steep incline, filling his pool, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Luckily, his house was not damaged, in part, because firefighters placed sandbags to block the slide from reaching it.
"You are tired, you are beat up, you come back to find your backyard completely wasted," said Janie Liszewski, Van Halen's publicist and live-in girlfriend.
Liszewski said Van Halen's band was still in Edmonton when they got the call from firefighters warning them about what awaited them back home.
She added that the rocker's response upon seeing his yard was simply, "Where's the pool?"
"The pool, I don't even know how to describe it. It's non-existent. It's mud," Liszewski said.
Van Halen's property was the only one affected by the water main break, the Times said.
