DES MOINES, Iowa, Dec. 8 Oprah Winfrey is wooing voters for Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama in a three-state campaign swing this weekend.
The U.S. take show queen and entertainment mogul is expected to draw tens of thousands of people in her visit to the crucial early states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.
While the contest for the Democratic nomination remains in flux, polls indicated Obama was gaining in the three states, especially in New Hampshire where rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., has seen her lead narrow to single digits, the Times reported.
Winfrey has an overwhelmingly female fan base, but it remains to be seen if she can influence a presidential election, Democratic pollster Mark Mellman said Friday.
"This is outside the normal range of experience," Mellman said, calling Winfrey a "unique figure in America."
