Munich - The Munich city council on Wednesday voted in favour of an Olympic bid for the 2018 Winter Games, with the final decision to be made next week by Germany's Olympic Committee (DOSB). "We took another step towards Olympic Winter Winter Games with this impressive vote," said Munich mayor Christian Ude, with only one delegate opposing the bid.
The DOSB will decide on Munich's intended bid on December 8. The 2018 Winter Games host is elected by the International Olympic Committee in 2011.
Munich hosted the Summer Olympics in 1972 and would be the first city to host both Games if it wins the snow and ice edition.
