Max Carlish, a documentary filmmaker has got the 25-year-old rock star Pete Doherty arrested. Carlish has complained to cops that the singer had allegedly attacked him in a hotel in Clerkenwell, North London.
Doherty was taken to a north London police station and remains in custody facing interrogation.
38-year-old Carlish, said that he needed hospital treatment for two black eyes and a broken nose after the attack. Doherty was reported to be demanding money from Carlish after the pictures apparently showing him smoking heroin were published in several tabloid newspapers.
Carlish has accepted that he sold the pictures but he said that he would not press charges on Doherty.
While talking to Radio 1 he said "I wouldn't be surprised if in three weeks' time he's hanging on the end of a rope in a jail cell somewhere. I do not want that to happen, so I'm not going to press charges."
Doherty has already admitted that he is a drug addict who once had spent £1,000 a day on the drug.
He was kicked out of the Libertines as he failed to control his habits. He was also arrested earlier when he had broken into a band mate’s home for stealing money.
Doherty however says that he has given up on drugs after meeting supermodel Kate Moss, the love of Doherty. "It is a beautiful thing. I am a different person after meeting Kate," he said.
"I am happy. Who wouldn't be? It's all in my hands. I want to make it work. I've been given a second chance. The drugs have got to stop or I'll lose her. I owe it to her. I owe it to everyone." Doherty added.
