Annapolis, Maryland - Israeli Prime Ehud Olmert pledged Tuesday that he would try to reach a peace deal with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas within one year. "The negotiations between us will not be here in Annapolis, but rather in our home and in yours. They will be bilateral, direct, ongoing and continuous, in an effort to complete them during the course of 2008," he told a US-hosted international peace conference in the Maryland capital, Annapolis.
The negotations would deal with all the core issues of the decades-old conflict, he pledged, referring to the status of Jerusalem, refugees and borders.
