NEW DELHI, Nov. 26 India says it is planning to set up six wind power projects in Rajasthan state.

"Wind resource assessment studies carried out at 38 locations in Rajasthan have indicated potential for setting up wind power projects at six locations, which have wind power density of 200 watts per square meters or more," Junior Minister for New and Renewable Energy Vilas Muttemwar told Indian Parliament Monday.

"Based on this, a gross wind power potential of 5,400 megawatts has been estimated in the state assuming land availability at the rate of 1 percent of potential areas and wind farm land requirement at the rate of 12 hectares per MW," he said.

In a bid to promote commercial wind power projects in the country, the government has provided fiscal incentives such as concessions on import duty on certain components of wind electricity generators and excise duty exemption, he said.
