NEW YORK, Nov. 25 New York's State Liquor Authority has warned it is monitoring nightclubs catering to underage pop icons.

Anonymous sources told the New York Post Sunday the agency is "paying close attention" to the hottest clubs in New York City that cater to underage celebrities.

Paparazzi caught starlets Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen and Lindsay Lohan coming and going from various New York City hot spots prior to their 21st birthdays. "The Sopranos" star Robert Iler was photographed drinking straight from the bottle at one club in 2005 when he was only 20 years old.

Minors who are at least 16 years old may legally enter nightclubs without a guardian, but most clubs restrict entrance to 21 and over to avoid potential alcohol violations.

One unnamed promoter, however, told the Post that serving alcohol to underage celebrities is inevitable.

"It's good for the clubs to have stars inside," the promoter said, adding that once inside they get drinks. "It's the way it is."

Liquor authority officials did not offer a comment on the enforcement measures, but unnamed sources told the Post the agency intends to ramp-up issuing violations during the holiday season.
