Microsoft will be dealing with availability issues for Zune 80 GB soon. The software giant seemed to be taken aback by the unprecedented demand for these devices and has revved up production of the same. According to several blogs citing Microsoft sources, Zune 80 GB will be available in a week's time.
Cesar from Zune Insider wrote on his blog that Redmond had resolved production issues related to the 80 GB Zune. "Right now, the stores which currently have availability: Circuit City, Target, and Wal-Mart, and online, check out Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal Mart, GameStop, Amazon, and Dell," he quoted Microsoft officials as saying.
Microsoft seems to have anticipated a greater demand for flash-based Zunes including the 4 GB and the 8 GB Zunes. However Amazon.com ra out of supply for 80 GB Zunes and was able to supply only those who pre-ordered the device.
Zune was launched on November 14, 2006 and although it is miles behind Apple's iPod as far as market share is concerned, the introduction of the 80 GB version seems to have done wonders for the device.
Microsoft can now look forward to a great holiday season following the huge demand for its flagship digital musical player.
