Stockholm - Swedish carmaker Volvo has decided to recall 18,000 of its V70 and XC70 car models over problems with the side impact airbags, reports said Thursday. "We discovered the problem ourselves," Volvo spokeswoman Maria Bohlin was quoted as telling the Goteborgs-Posten newspaper about the faulty software that in some circumstances delayed the airbag from inflating.
The problem could be fixed by reprogramming the software used for inflating the sensors, the report said.
The cost of the recall programme was not listed.
