London, Nov 18 - Oscar winner Russell Crowe intimidated hard core criminals with his resume when he met them while researching for his movie 'American Gangster'.Crowe was keen to get his portrayal of detective Richie Roberts right and visited New York gangsters to research, contactmusic.com reports. But the criminals were nervous because of his impressive resume. He said: 'With the first couple I met, I couldn't work out why they were shaking. I thought they must have been dealing with some sort of extreme drug problem or something like that. But then one of the gangsters I was doing the interview with said about the other one, 'No, don't worry. He's just f**kin' nervous. He's nervous because he's being interviewed by Maximus (Crowe's character in 'Gladiator')!' This is a guy who may well have been responsible for killing people, but a movie star is a movie star.'Crowe co-stars with Denzel Washington in the film, which is directed by Ridley Scott.
