LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14 The American Dental Association is investigating allegations of a legacy program and cheating in various U.S. university orthodontic programs.
Tuesday's edition of the Daily Bruin, the University of California, Los Angeles student newspaper, revealed the findings of a monthlong investigation into alleged preferential treatment given to students from families contributing large gifts to the university, the Los Angeles Times said Wednesday.
UCLA, the University of Southern California, New York University and Loma Linda University are also the target of an American Dental Association investigation into allegations students gained access to test questions that are part of the qualification process to practice dentistry.
Typically, UCLA offers six positions for its dental residency program per year.
