Man marries dog to make up for dog killing
MANAMADURAI, India, Nov. 13 A man in southern India has married a stray dog in a Hindu ceremony to make amends for killing two dogs 15 years ago.
The strange wedding took place at a temple sacred to Ganesh, the elephant-headed son of Shiva and Parvati, in a village in the state of Tamil Nardu, the Hindustan Times reported.
The man said the killed the pair of dogs while they were coupling and hung up their bodies.
"After that my legs and hands got paralyzed and I lost hearing in one ear," he said. "Only recently, after treatment I have managed to become mobile and that too with a crutch."
He was advised by an astrologer that he could be cured by marrying a female dog.
The bridegroom's relatives found a stray, washed it and dressed it in a wedding sari. The ceremony was followed by a marriage feast.
Teen breaks into bank, makes foul deposit
WYANDOTTE, Mich., Nov. 13 A suburban Detroit teenager allegedly broke into a bank, created several thousand dollars in damage and left a foul deposit on the floor.
The 16-year-old told police he was high and bored when he came up with the caper early Sunday, The Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday.
The youth didn't take anything from the Monroe Bank & Trust, a police report filed in juvenile court said. He did, however, smash an ATM outside the bank, smash through the glass back door and enter the facility where he climbed up to the second floor.
There, he shed most of his clothing, sat on the balcony and defecated over the rail onto the first floor, the report said.
The youth, who has a pretrial hearing Dec. 6, reportedly told police he was bored and high on Xanax. Tests also showed marijuana in his system, the Free Press said.
Cat scratch at vet creates a furor
EL PASO, Texas, Nov. 13 A Texas animal control officer apologized for ticketing an El Paso cat owner whose pet scratched a veterinary assistant while receiving treatment.
Aarin Walston's cat, Attila, was at the veterinarian's office for treatment of a neck abscess and scratched a technician's finger, KFOX-TV, El Paso, reported.
The law says any bites or scratches have to be reported to animal control but Walston said the officer who responded to the incident overreacted.
Walston told KFOX she thought someone was playing a trick on her.
"When she wrote the ticket, I was thinking to myself, this is a joke, you know. Someone's going to jump out and say, 'Surprise. A-ha, I got you,'" said Walston.
Animal control officials admitted the citation was a mistake and dismissed the ticket. Walston said the officer has apologized for the furor.
Man dies in cat door
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., Nov. 13 A Florida man died after getting stuck in a cat door while apparently trying to sneak into his girlfriend's house after she kicked him out.
Officers said when they found Charles Tucker Jr., 32, in the cat door Saturday morning in the St. Augustine, Fla., house, it was not their first encounter with him.
Police said that on Friday they found him slumped over the wheel of his car. He was taken to the hospital and released, according to WJXT in Jacksonville, Fla.
Witnesses said they believe Tucker might have passed out and died since there was no sign of a struggle and his girlfriend was inside and would have heard him, the station reported.
The cause of death hasn't been determined pending autopsy results.
