Jerusalem - A Palestinian delegation, which included chief negotiator Ahmed Qurei, cancelled a meeting with its Israeli counterpart Sunday, saying they were delayed at a military checkpoint outside Jerusalem. The delegation, which, according to reports, had all the required permits to enter Israel, was travelling to meet the Israeli team to discuss details of the upcoming meeting on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict at Annapolis, Maryland.
"We regret that the meeting was postponed," said Mark Regev, a spokesman for Israel's Foreign Ministry.
"We hope that the two teams can meet together expeditiously at the earliest possible convenience," he added, saying Israel was committed to the negotiations.
Israeli officials spoke with the Palestinian delegation and said they would look into the incident.
