BEIJING, Dec. 15 China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned the country's women Thursday to beware of online marriage services that often result in unhappy brides.The ministry said the number of women trapped in unhappy matrimony as a result of registering with misleading online international marriage services is on the rise, reported Xinhua, China's official government-run news agency. It warned that some women who used the mate-finding services have been abused and others have lost their lives.The government said women who have been conned into marriages that do not resemble what they were promised should contact local Chinese embassies and consulates.One woman, surnamed Chen, has filed suit against an online marriage service for the $2,564 they charged her to be married to a jobless, ill-tempered divorced man in Britain.A 29-year-old woman, surnamed Ziling, said she was promised a fitting husband in Japan, but ended up with a short-tempered 15-year-old farmer.By UPI
