Google to unveil mobile technology

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Google Inc <GOOG.O> announced on Monday plans to unveil a mobile phone technology platform with support from more than 30 companies including wireless service providers and handset makers, as it looks to expand its dominance of desktop Web searching to cell phones.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Google Inc announced on Monday plans to unveil a mobile phone technology platform with support from more than 30 companies including wireless service providers and handset makers, as it looks to expand its dominance of desktop Web searching to cell phones.

Google said it would hold a conference call later in the day to discuss the system with speakers from T-Mobile, owned by Deutsche Telekom , Motorola , High Tech Computer <2498.TW> and Qualcomm Inc .

It said the system, known as Android would be "the first truly open and comprehensive platform for mobile devices."

Nuance Joins Open Handset Alliance
