LOS ANGELES, Oct. 31 The team behind the classic "X-Files" science-fiction TV series is reuniting for a second big-screen outing slated to hit U.S. theaters next summer.
The first "X-Files" feature film, based on the long-running Fox series and released in theaters in 1998, earned $187 million worldwide.
"X-Files" creator Chris Carter has signed on to direct the second movie, in which actors David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will reprise their iconic roles of FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, Variety.com reported Wednesday.
Carter will start shooting the supernatural thriller in December in Vancouver from a script he penned with veteran "X-Files" scribe Frank Spotnitz.
Carter and Spotnitz also co-wrote the screenplay for 1998 "X-Files" feature and both will serve as producers on the sequel, which is to hit the screens July 25, 2008, the trade newspaper said. Copyright 2007 by UPI
