Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria is checking out a French castle to solemnize her union with her basketball star fiancé Tony Parker on July 7 next year.
The 24-year-old San Antonio Spurs star popped the question to his 31-year-old actress girlfriend on November 30, taking her by surprise when he turned up at her Los Angeles home unannounced.
It is understandable that Longoria wants the nuptials in France given that Parker was brought up there. “Eva really wanted to get married in France. It's a beautiful country, a country of love and a place that is very special for us. It's important to her that we get married there,” Parker was quoted in media reports as saying.
Longoria has hired the services of Hollywood wedding planner Mindy Weiss to handle the details of the ceremony. However, given that the couple is in the process of setting up a home in San Antonio, the ceremony will be on a strict budget. Of course, Parker will also have a role to play in the wedding planning.
Meanwhile, Longoria revealed the details of Parker's proposal to a leading US celebrity magazine recently, saying she was shocked at and touched by the old-fashioned 'will you marry me?'. “I was heading home from a long day on the set. (Parker) had been playing in Utah, so I was just shocked to see him in LA,” she revealed to
People magazine.
After the question had been popped and answered, Longoria could feel tears streaming down her face. “I cried my eyes out. I was mostly touched by how nervous he was. I was like, 'You know I'm going to say yes. Why are you so nervous?' But I guess every man gets nervous at that point,” she added. But Parker, on his part, says he was sure his timing was right and the proposal was long time coming. The proposal was accompanied by a Jean Dousset-designed five-carat diamond ring.
While this would be the first marriage for Parker, Longoria, who plays the conniving love cheat Gabrielle Solis in
Desperate Housewives, was earlier married to
General Hospital star Tyler Christopher between 2002 and 2004. Parker and Longoria have been in a relationship for the last two years.
