Amman - The Jordanian Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Japan's Mitsubishi conglomerate for setting up a Phosphoric acid plant in Jordan at an estimated cost of 300 million dollars, JPMC chairman Walid Kurdi said Sunday. "JPMC and Mitsubishi will immediately embark on a feasibility study for the project, with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes a day, which is expected to go into production within three years," Kurdi was quoted as saying by the official Petra news agency.
Over the past year, the JPMC had signed memos of understanding with several international companies, including India's Afco, for the production of phosphoric acid which was in growing demand throughout the world, he added.
