Lagos, Oct 17 (Xinhua) Nigerian men's soccer team was robbed after their match in Mexico, reported Nigerian newspaper Vanguard here Wednesday.

The national team returned to their hotel after the 2-2 draw against Mexico and discovered that two of their rooms at the three-star fiesta inn, Ciudad Juarez, had been burgled and four players had lost their belongings.

According to the report, Ike Uche, Paul Obiefule, Manasseh Ishiaku and Dickson Etuhu were the four victims.

Uche lost the $5,000 that he was paid as bonus for the win over Lesotho last month and his wristwatch. His roommate Obiefule lost around 3,000 euros.

Ishiaku lost his laptop, wristwatch and wallet containing credit cards and cash. Etuhu also lost his wallet containing cash, credit cards and a driving license.

Meanwhile, the organisers of Sunday's international friendly match between Nigeria and Mexico have agreed to pay for all stolen items.

'We went to the police station and the organisers of the match have been really concerned. They have, in fact, taken the bank details of the players who lost valuables and said they will pay back whatever was lost in the burglary,' said a source.
