Tokyo - Mazda is to follow the Nagare design theme with the Taiki concept study aerodynamic design inspired by nature and a new generation Rotary engine at the Tokyo Motor Show from October 27 to November 11. The Taiki will share a podium with the new Mazda Premacy Hydrogen RE Hybrid and the redesigned Mazda 6 which made its debut at the Frankfurt show.
The Mazda Premacy Hydrogen RE Hybrid is part of a series of future-oriented powertrains including a variety of environmental and safety technologies, the car maker said in a press release.
Following in the footsteps of the Mazda Nagare, Mazda Ryuga, and Mazda Hakaze concept vehicles, the Mazda Taiki further advances and refines the theme through a fusion of the Nagare (flow) design concept and real-world technologies, the car maker said.
"Mazda Taiki sets a new ideal for the front-engine rear-drive sports car of the future," the car maker added.
The new Premacy Hydrogen RE Hybrid is equipped with a transverse hydrogen rotary engine, featuring a hydrogen/petrol dual-fuel system. The system converts energy from hydrogen combustion to electricity and uses it to power the motor.
Mazda said it was revising its entire powertrain series for the period after 2010 with an emphasis on improved fuel and emissions performance.
