Rumor has it that wedding bells will soon be ringing for hip-hop artist Jay-Z and Beyonce Knowles this Friday.
According to the New York Post's Page Six gossip column, the couple will exchange vows this weekend under the ruse of a four day, 37th birthday bash Beyonce, 25, has planned for Hova.
The rumor took wings on Saturday as a result of an animated discussion between Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z at New York's STK restaurant about a special "four-day" celebration.
Although rumors run rife the couple has not confirmed it. Their agents have not returned calls or emails.
If the rumor bears out it is expected that it will commence on a yacht off the Caribbean isle of St Barts, this Friday.
After they have arrived the guests will apparently be transported to Anguilla and the couple will say, “I do” at the five-star Cap Juluca resort there.
This will top off a four year romance between Beyonce and Jay-Z. Beyonce has been determined not to discuss the relationship publicly and she believes that this has had positive results. At the same time Jay-Z told People magazine that they were not interested in playing with their relationship.
Friends and relatives who have apparently been invited to the ceremony were advised to file their passport applications by last Friday, December 1.
Beyonce and Jay-Z aka Jigga, real name Shawn Carter, had reconnoitered the resort earlier this year and have apparently approved of it as the venue for the wedding.
Another more morbid rumor of a breakup had been doing the rounds a few days earlier triggered by the lyrics of Jay-Z's new track called 'Lost One'. Now, it appears, all is well.
Beyonce has had exceptional success with a second album, B'Day, which was released on September 4, 2006, her twenty-fifth birthday. In its first week B'Day, with hit songs such as 'Ring The Alarm' and, 'Irreplaceable' sold over 541,000 copies.
Knowles is also expected to be a candidate for an Oscar for her performance in the impending film 'Dreamgirls' in which she starred opposite Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy.
At the same time Jay-Z who has returned to rap has found success with his new album 'Kingdom Come'. Beyonce has worked together with Jay Z on the album. His all-Star show at the royal Albert Hall was a resounding success.
Beyonce Knowles came to public attention as the lead singer of 'Destiny's Child. After a spectacularly successful spell with the group she decided to go solo and released 'Dangerously in Love' in 2003. It topped the billboard 200 R&B charts in the U.S. and the main albums chart in Canada and the United Kingdom.
This has been followed by nine Grammy awards, six of them for 'best solo artist' and three of them as a group member of “Destiny's Child.'
To take the cake, Knowles has now won a Grammy in the category of 'Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals' for the song 'So Amazing', a duet with Stevie Wonder from the Luther Vandross tribute album at the 2006 Grammy awards.
