BRISBANE, Australia, Oct. 10 Australian Corey Symes, 22, has been fined $270 for riding his skateboard while under the influence of alcohol.
Police in the Queensland city of Maroochydore stopped Symes on the road before midnight Sept. 21 as he was weaving his skateboard through traffic lights while drinking from a can of rum, the Courier-Mail newspaper said.
Police said Symes' speech was slurred, his eyes were watery and red and he recorded a blood alcohol level of .095.
"You could have got yourself killed or caused accidents to other people on the road," admonished Magistrate Tom Killeen in convicting Symes.
In entering his guilty plea, Symes said he was "sincerely sorry" for his actions and he would never repeat them.
