San Francisco - A four-year-old girl fell 137 metres from the edge of the Grand Canyon and died Tuesday, reported local Arizona media.
The accident occurred at 11:30 am just west of Mather Point, the most popular scenic viewing area in the national park, reported the Arizona Republic. The girl's father rushed down the rim to reach his daughter and began CPR , however the girl was pronounced dead on the scene by medical crews.
There are no railings on that portion of the Grand Canyon edge.
This is the second death from a fall at the Grand Canyon this year, according to a park spokeswoman. The child is believed to be the youngest person to die from a fall at the popular tourist destination this year.
