London - A randy peacock who went on a sex rampage in Britain caused serious damage to the paintwork of a peacock-blue luxury car he mistook for a mate, it was reported Thursday. The luxury Lexus limousine, parked in the grounds of a stately home in Bridgwater, in the south-western county of Somerset, was left covered in scratches after the frisky bird's prolonged attack.

Benjamin Slade, the aristocratic owner of the country manor, has since been forced to put up warning signs in the car park alerting drivers of peacock blue cars of to the danger.

He is also struggling to convince insurers to pay the repair bill of 4,000 British pounds (8,000 dollars) for the car owned by one of his employees.

"It started when he fell in love with this Lexus, which was in a very distinct peacock blue and looked like another peacock boy," explained Slade Thursday.

"He couldn't control his urges and tried to shag it. He attacked the panels so hard that the car needs a total respray. The insurers, Lloyd's of London, are not very happy about it," Slade told the Press Association.

"They have had claims for all sorts of things like lions biting people, but never have they heard of a peacock sexually attacking a car before," he added.

Does it not seem more plausible that the peacock saw the car as a rival and not as a potential mate?
