ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 4 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said a bomb fuse containing significant gunpowder was found near a central Florida middle school.
The device was attached to a training bomb found on a former World War II bombing range in Orange County. It was only a few hundred feet from a fence at Odyssey Middle School, WKMG-TV in Orlando said Wednesday.
Parents had expressed concern about the site after the Army Corps of Engineers announced they were searching the area for live munitions.
A chain-linked fence separates the middle school from the former bombing range, WKMG-TV said. Engineers were to dispose of the gunpowder by detonating it.
