WASHINGTON, Dec. 4 Federal Clean Renewable Energy bonds totaling $31.7 million were awarded to the Green Electricity Buying Cooperative. The Montana co-op announced it will use the funds to build two wind farm projects in McCone and Yellowstone Counties that will produce approximately 20 megawatts of clean power. The money comes from a provision in the 2005 U.S. Energy Policy Act that allots $800 million in grants over two years for small renewable energy projects. These bond grants open the door for everyday Montanans to get a piece of the green energy boom, said Russ Doty, executive director of GEBCO. We expect that these farm projects will be the first of many new clean energy profit centers for struggling Montana farmers and land owners. The hope is that the farmers and land owners will be able to sell the wind powered electricity as a cash crop.Only members of the co-op will be able to buy the renewable power, but Doty said membership is open. Any resident who is a customer of an investor-owned utility, qualifies under the law in Montana to become a member of GEBCO. As a result of increases in the cost of other fuel sources, 'green' power from wind in Colorado is now cheaper than 'black' energy from coal and oil, said board member Steve Corrick. GEBCO leaders hope these new projects will bring those economic benefits back to the local people. Copyright 2006 by UPI

Tjis is great news. Many things are happening in 2007 to help bring down the cost of Solar Power, too. New technolgy, new US manufacturing, new incentives and sources of financing, revised ways to value the cost of power based on CURRENT DATA and long-life systems/and including low maintenance/operational costs and low risk to health. Long-term stable returns has caused a surge in Investor interest, too.
Homeowners in MT, in the Flathead and many other places, can apply now to prevent rate increases for up to 25 years - by using solar electricity provided by RENTED Solar PV Panels at your property. Only one company offers this deal to homeowners, and they plan to continually expand manufacturing to help Solar provide 25% of US electricity by 2025.
Sorry, but this new option is not available in all areas yet. It IS coming to US Net-Metering States: so home-owners connected to the grid can spin the meter backwards, and get credit for power produced. Ask legislators or your Public Utility Commission to change the law if needed - 40 states already have!
See more info, and hear Actor Ed Begley explain the system in a video at:

Homeowners and family-farmers from eligible areas can Reserve Rental PV equipment, and lock their rate at that site as well. I am origionally from Montana - and am happy to answer any questions.
