Playtex shareholders OK Energizer takeover

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Playtex Products Inc said on Thursday that its shareholders approved for the maker of sunscreen and tampons to be acquired by battery company Energizer Holdings Inc .The company, whose brands include Banana Boat, Hawaiian Tropic and Wet Ones, sees the acquisition - valued at about $1.16 billion plus the assumption of debt - closing on or about October 1.Playtex was trading up 3 cents or .16 percent, at $18.28, while Energizer was down $1.45 or 1.3 percent, to $110.12 on the New York Stock Exchange at midday.(Reporting by Martinne Geller) (c) Reuters 2007.
