NEW YORK, Sept. 21 Columbia University's decision to invite the president of Iran to speak has brought outrage from U.S. officials and Jewish groups.
The critics include Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and other presidential candidates and the Anti-Defamation League, the New York Daily News reported.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is coming to New York next week for the opening of the U.N. General Assembly session. Columbia President Lee Bollinger plans to introduce him when he speaks Monday night at the School of International and Public Affairs.
Critics say any speech from Ahmadinejad will be hate speech. He has questioned whether the Holocaust happened and said Israel should be "wiped off the map."
"There's no requirement, no moral imperative, to give him a platform that he will not give in Tehran," Abe Foxman of the ADL said.
McCain said instead of inviting Ahmadinejad to the campus, Columbia should lift the ban on military recruiters that has been in place since 1969. Copyright 2007 by UPI

I'm a Jew and an American, and I am repelled by many of the statements Ahmadinejad has made regarding Jews and his belicosity toward Israel. Yet I don't see what difference it makes whether he speaks at Columbia or visits Ground Zero. Does it bolster his legitimacy anywhere outside Iran? Banning him merely makes him into a martyr back home. I say let him speak, and let him be subject to challenging remarks and heckling from the audience. I thought the greatness of American society was based on enabling even the most repugnant voices to have their say. Calling someone an "enemy" who is not at war with us, and advocating that he be not allowed to speak merely plays into the Bush strategy of turning America into a paranoid state in which self-censorship is lauded.

Have to give credit to Columbia for helping bolster Ahmadinejad's falling popularity back home by giving him a forum at one of America's most pretigious universities. I'm sure the edited version on Iranian state run television will please the lefties at Columbia and elsewhere.

Ahmadinejad speech
By:
Richard Bentley ,

|
|
Even if he is an idiot, and even if he is delusional about the houlocast, he is a leader of a state; and he is entitled to free speech in this country, much as the Israeli lobby, the Republicans, and the right-wing Christians would like to repeal that constitutional right.
The main lesson to learn from this is that if the United States government had not been so arrogant and unwilling to deal with all countries diplomatically in an even-handed way, and if the United States had not acted unilateraly for so many years in the foreign policy arena, we wouldn't be having to deal with the likes of Mr. Ahmadinejad.

The evil that runs in this mans blood is undeniable; he has been sanctioned, continues to defy the UN and has called for the extermination of jews and our american troops.
WHY is he even allowed to come to N.Y. and participate in the UN summit? This is our enemy of the worst kind and he is invited to speak at our colleges and participate in the summit?
What has happened to America? Would Hitler be invited if he was alive today?

All Local, State, Federal and private grants and donations donations should be immediately withdrawn until Mr. Bollinger puts the crack pipe down and grips the reality of who his 'guest speaker' is. This is an outrage. It certainly borders on treason. Columbia University is providing aid and comfort to our enemy.
Mr. Ahmadinejad has the blood of American soldiers on his hands. Soldiers who Columbia won't even afford the same courtesy as this murdering, terrorist. He is the Hitler of our time and Columbia is about to sanction a man determined to pick up where Hitler left off.
Apparently, history is notpart of Columbia's curriculum.

Let Ahmadinejad Speak

Don't allow the Israeli lobby (JDL) and old, myopic right wing pandering politicians (McCain) from interfering with Columbia University's and America's constitutional right to open and free speech and discourse. What up until most recently has distinguished the USA from a Saddam type dictatorship is America's open society which was clearly defined and set forth in our constitution. McCain, the Israeli lobby and the rest of the neocon types want to limit our freedoms and constitutional rights for their own narrow agenda by connecting America's interests with those of no-end-to-war Israel. If you doubt me just read the JDL's complaints and criticisms about Ahmadinejad again. They have nothing to do with the USA but everything to do with protecting and defending Israel.
Ahmadinejad isn’t a dictator, he was openly elected by the Iranian people. It seems to me that Ahmadinejad represents all that Bush and company say they want for the Middle East: democracy and freedom.
There are 25,000 Jews who live in Iran. No they are not in concentration camps, nor are they oppressed or harassed by the Iranian government. The same cannot be said for Israeli Arabs. It’s better to live as an Iranian Jew than an Israeli Arab.
By the way, Iran was the only Middle Eastern country (including Israel) to hold a national candle light vigil on 9/11.

We give him a platform to speak and call us evil, while he would never dare let this kind of speech in his own country. Then to add insult to injury, this university will let a man that think we are infidels speak, while he will not let our own military, whom protects his rights to do this, come to the campus to recruit.
How can someone not look at that and realize the logic is flawed. What is goign on with this country? Do we have a death wish?

Ahmadinejad speaking at Columbia

Oh Great Satan just listen to your Judge! We give rights to illegal aliens over US citizens, special rights to others based on sexual orientation, race and just about anything else that a special group wants so is it any surprise that we'd give legitimate status to our enemy by allowing him a platform to legitimize his propaganda under the guise of education! Lee Bolinger is legalizing a man responsible the death of our soldiers in Irag, declares the Holocaust a legend (thank God a former President of Columbia during WARII had the forsight to record both in photos and articles this tradegy of WarII) President Lee Bollinger needs to take a page from Einsebhower and refuse this individual a pupit to espouse his so called message of Peace as he has been espousing lately. Young minds are not ready to deal with this evil person who would dispose of a whole group of people, who has said the only thing HItler did wrong was to "Not finish the job" meaning completely destroying all Jewish people. Their slogan "First the Jews, then the Christians. WAKE UP AMERICA!
