Pakistani presidential election due October 6

Islamabad - Pakistan will hold its presidential election on October 6, the Election Commission in Islamabad said Thursday. President Pervez Musharraf will seek a further five-year term in a vote by parliament, which is narrowly controlled by forces loyal to the military ruler. Nomination papers are to be submitted by candidates by September 27, the commission said.
